Marriott International sent notice to the General Managers of its 2011 Award winning hotels in May of 2012. Later, due to a glitch in the system, that list had to be revised in June. A recent review of the list by Kevin Hilchey, President of Lodging Host Hotel Corp, revealed that the Residence Inn at the Albuquerque Airport was the only Residence Inn in the Marriott system in the State of New Mexico to win an award. Only two other hotels in the Marriott family of Brands in the State of New Mexico received an award in 2011. Lodging Host Hotel Corp is the management company that operates the Residence Inn Albuquerque Airport hotel.
“At first, we were a little concerned about the drop from Gold level in 2010 to Silver level in 2011. Once you take into account the fact that in the later part of 2010 the hotel experienced a fire in a guest room and had a number of essential guest services closed down for the first part of 2011, you realize how amazing an accomplishment this really is.” according to Hilchey. Marriott presents these awards annually to the top performers in the system based on customer comment card and service scores.
Janet Glynn, General Manager at the Residence in Albuquerque Airport hotel, commented “The staff did a wonderful job during the emergency, responding based on their training, to insure guest safety. Afterward, they pulled together to keep delivering the exceptional guest service we are becoming known for. They continued to anticipate the needs of our guests that were complicated by construction, outside workers, additional noise levels, loss of amenity areas and other distractions. It will certainly be interesting to see where this year takes them.” |
